Why are some question categories grayed out when selecting categories for a game?

If you’re playing Outsmarted! with junior players (8–12 years), you may notice some question categories are grayed-out and not selectable. This simply means that these particular categories do not contain junior-level questions and cannot be used in a game that includes junior players.

Why does the app contain genius miniatures that were not included in my box?

Since Outsmarted! was first produced back in 2020, not every edition has included the same set of genius miniatures. However, additional genius miniatures will soon be available on our website and Amazon.

Why do I have to pay for extra question categories?

Our 10 Core pack categories comprise over 10,000 questions—several times the amount of a traditional trivia game. They offer a perfectly balanced challenge and cover a broad range of subjects for all players. For a more customized experience, we also offer paid add-on categories in niche subjects (such as Harry Potter or Logo Quiz) containing between 100–150 questions per pack. An average game of Outsmarted! uses between 25–35 questions per category, so even smaller add-on categories are good for multiple games!

How do I use my Redeem Code for unlocking a question pack I have purchased?

To redeem a code purchased on our website, open the Outsmarted! app and tap the basket/shopping cart icon in the top-right corner of the Home Screen to open the Question Store. Enter your redeem code in the Redeem Code box and select "REDEEM". Your new question pack will immediately unlock and be added to your library!

Does the game have questions in my language, for my country?

Outsmarted! comes with a 10,000+ question set for each of the following individual countries:

  • United States

  • United Kingdom

  • Canada

  • Australia

  • New Zealand

  • Germany

  • France

  • Netherlands

  • Belgium

  • Italy

Each region has questions in the local language, and the set of questions themselves are tailored for each country. You can change your region in the Outsmarted! app settings at any time to access that local question set without paying extra.

How do I play Outsmarted!?

Playing Outsmarted! is a breeze. The companion app manages gameplay, allowing anyone to pick up and play within minutes. See our “How to Play” section for full details.

Is Outsmarted! suitable for children?

Yes! Outsmarted! has thousands of junior-level questions covering topics kids love. We tailor question language, topics, and difficulty to three age ranges: Juniors (8+), Teens, and Adults. Just set the age range for each player at the start of the game.

How frequently are new questions added or updated?

The Breaking News category is updated daily, and we frequently add new questions to all 10 categories in our Core Pack. Additionally, new question categories are regularly introduced ensuring you’ll always have fresh trivia on your favorite topics!

How many players can take part?

Each game can have 2–6 players or teams. Teams can have up to 4 players, meaning up to 24 players total.

How long does a typical game of Outsmarted! last?

Up to you! While you can no longer pause the game, you can select your preferred game duration and turn timer length in pre-game setup:

  • Turbo Mode: Designed to speed up gameplay by reducing wait times between questions, especially when players answer correctly several times in a row. It maintains a dynamic pace (without limiting gameplay to just one question per turn) and gives players 60 seconds to answer questions.

  • Slow Mode: Gives players 2 minutes and 30 seconds to answer as many questions correctly as possible.

Most games range between 30 minutes to two hours depending on your chosen settings.

Why do I have to pay for extra question categories?

However, for a more customized experience, we offer paid add-on categories in niche subjects (like Harry Potter and Logo Quiz). These paid packs typically contain 100–150 questions. Are there other question categories available?

Yes! We offer 100+ additional paid question category packs beyond our 10 Core categories. You can buy add-on categories either on the Outsmarted! website or directly inside the app, as well as multipack bundles at a discount.

Does the game have questions in my language, for my country?

What does it mean if a question pack says “completed” in my question library?

This shows when you’ve played all available questions in that pack. You can still play the pack again, but questions will repeat.

License Key

What is the license key?

A license key is a unique 16-digit code included inside your physical game box used to register your copy of Outsmarted! and unlock host features in the app.

I’ve lost my license key!

No problem! Contact our support team with the email address you used during original app registration, and we will assist you in recovering it.

Delivery

When will my order arrive?

All orders include free delivery (fully tracked with Amazon). Please check delivery time at checkout. At present delivery time is typically 3 or 4 working days. 

I need to change my shipping address!

Contact us as soon as possible (preferably within 1–2 hours of placing your order) so we can update your shipping details before dispatch.

Can I buy product bundles on Amazon?

Product bundles are exclusive to our website.

Do I need a smartphone, tablet, or PC to play Outsmarted!?

Yes. Gameplay is hosted through the Outsmarted! app, so you’ll need a compatible mobile device, tablet, or laptop, along with an internet connection.

How many devices are needed to play Outsmarted!?

Only one main host device is required to run the game. Optionally, up to 6 additional devices can connect to the main device as handheld controllers for individual players or teams.

What devices are compatible with Outsmarted!?

Outsmarted! is compatible with:

  • iOS: iPhones & iPads (iOS 16 or newer)

  • Android: Android phones & tablets (Android 10+, 64-bit with min. 4GB RAM)

  • Windows: Windows 10 / 11 PCs & laptops

(Note: Chromebooks, Amazon Kindle Fire tablets, and macOS are not supported).

How do I download the Outsmarted! app?

Download the Outsmarted! app directly from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. For Windows PCs, download the installer directly from our official website.

Can you play Outsmarted! on TV?

Yes - if you are able to connect your smart device to your TV, you can stream your Outsmarted! game to a TV. 

Do I need an internet connection to play?

Yes.

Can Outsmarted! be played remotely?

Yes! Outsmarted! features built-in remote play capabilities, allowing friends and family to join your game from anywhere in the world using a Join Game code. 

What should I do if Outsmarted! doesn't work on my device?

First, check that your device meets the minimum system requirements (4GB+ RAM) and has the latest app update installed. If issues persist, submit a ticket on our support page—we answer most technical queries within 24 hours!
